We will leave for a higher altitude place. Drink as much as water you can and take the dosage of Diamox before we leave the town. We will ascend to an altitude of 18000 ft, leaving the green valley. You will climb 6500 ft with a short 40 km ride. Feel the loss of power as we ride to the top and Enjoy the breathtaking view of the valley on the way to one of the highest motorable roads in the world. You get to spend ten minutes photographed at the top with 50% oxygen.

Soon, you will descend to the beautiful valley along the Shyok River after we cross the Khardung village. We will make a brief stop at the Diskit Monastery before our today's destination. Witness the mesmerising view of the valley while you stand at the feet of 108 ft Maitreya Buddha Statue. Later, take a short ride to the dunes of Nubra Valley. One can witness the majestic double-humped camel which is found just in High-altitude regions like Tibet, and Kyrgyzstan. Overnight stay at Nubra Valley.

Day 4 - Nubra - Shyok - Pangong lake
Nubra Alt. - 3000 m Pangong Alt. - 4200 m
The ride today is not for the faint-hearted. You will ride along the Shyok River (which translates to The River of Death in the local language). The ride transverses through 2 mountain regions - The Himalayas and the Karakoram ranges. After breakfast, You will take the narrow hill road along the mountains. Later, you will start chasing the Shyok River.

As soon as you leave the Leh road, the offroading starts. At first, you will tackle small broken road patches and encounter long stretches of fine white sand. You will travel on an unpaved road with loose stones, rubbles and dust. The road becomes trickier once we cross Agham village. An uncertain amount of water in the streams of Himalayan glacial water makes the day adventurous.

It will not be an exaggeration to call this day an exam day for physical fitness and mental wellness.

On the last stretch of the ride, enjoy the beautiful stretch of the road along the Mormot land which takes you to Pangong. Take a walk by the shore and devour the beauty of the holy Pangong. Enjoy the night by the brackish waters of the endorheic lake.

Due to the freezing temperatures of the gushing winds, it is advisable to reach the semi-deluxe tents before sunset.

Day 5 - Pangong Tso - Rezang La – Hanle
Pangong Alt. - 4200 m Hanle Alt. – 4500 m
You can not be more excited about the most adventurous day of the ride. Have a sumptuous meal before we start on this unmanned route. There are hardly any shops where you can have a cup of coffee while you ride to the other side of the Changthang Plateau.

At first, we will ride along the coastline of Pangong Lake towards the Chinese border. There are a few villages we will cover before we see the last point of Pangong Lake in India.

The real fun begins once you have reached Chusul. The roads will turn into dirt trails beyond Chusul. It's fun to ride on the stone and soil. Beyond Rezang La, do not get stranded in multiple tyre marks. Just follow your captain closely or else you will have to find your path in the dusty wind. The roads are so fascinating you will never notice that you crossed a mountain pass (Tsaga La). Enjoy riding and getting stuck in the sand piles before Loma. You will cross the Indus River to reach the signature and hypnotising single-lane road to Hanle. One can easily claim this route as the most scenic one on the entire journey. Enjoy the evening in one of the remotest villages. Overnight stay in Homestay.

Day 6 - Hanle - Umling La - Hanle
Hanle Alt. – 4500 m Umling La Alt. – 5880 m
You will ride on the highest motorable road in the world. Among the multiple routes available to reach Umling La, we will take the route in the best condition or the open one. All of these will get you to the Chisumle Bridge. The route is famous for spotting some of the elusive and rare animals like the Himalayan Marmot, Kiang, Blue Sheep, Black-necked crane etc.

Among these three routes, the best route is via Nurbu La. As you leave the Hanle village, we will start following a dirt trail in an open valley. There are multiple trail marks on the no-man valley. Closely monitor your road captain or else you might choose the wrong trail and get stranded or get stuck in fine sand.

The ride to the foot of the hill is easy-weasy. The true challenge starts once you start climbing the steep road leading to Nurbu La. The road got a steep climbing angle for over 5 km and was completely unpaved. The fine sand in every corner makes sure to give you the thrill you came in for.
Upon reaching the Nurbu La top, we will ride on a beautifully tarred road.

Beyond the bridge, ride along the Kingdul River, ascending higher on the Chismule-Demchok road. Unlike other high mountain passes, you will not find a deep valley. Once you have reached the top where the bike loses most of its power, take a proud photo at the top of the world. Later, have a hot tea at Oxygen cafe. We will head back to the same homestay.

Special Note for Foreigners - Foreigners will have a leisurely day. You can take a rest for the entire day & explore the serene town.

This shall be our last day of riding our machines in the Changthang region. The distance we are going to cover today is 240 Kms. We will ride on the seductive road of the barren lands to cross the Indus River at Loma. A photo stop is a must on this part of the road. To see a herd of Kiang along the road is not uncommon in this part of Ladakh. You will certainly enjoy the scenic panorama.

Once you have reached the Loma checkpost, a refreshment break at the army cafe is worthwhile. Devours some of the tastiest hot samosas of Ladakh, prepared by the protectors of the country. The road turns to a 2 lane highway from this point when you start riding along the Indus River. The time will fly just like your machine and with a blink of an eye, we will reach today's lunch point at Chumathang.
